Brick Chimney with New Copper Flashing

The Scope

Chimney rebuild from the roofline up + new sweat-soldered copper step-flashing + cricket installation.

The chimney showed efflorescence on the interior wall — water tracking down inside the masonry from a failed crown and rusted step-flashing. We tore the chimney down to the roofline, rebuilt with brick matched to the original 1910s reds and a lime-cement mortar matched to the original mortar joints, installed a proper overhanging crown, sweat-soldered new step-flashing in 20-ounce copper, and added a copper cricket behind the chimney where none had existed before.
