Specialty Services

The work that defines a roof — done right.

Slate, copper, and historic restoration aren't side services for us. They're the work we trained for, the materials we love, and the only thing we install. The list below is short by design.

The Craftsmen

Founded by a craftsman who climbed every roof himself.

Arturo Almeida started Art Slate Roofing in 2005 with one truck and the rule he still works by: every roof gets walked, measured, and quoted by the owner before anyone touches it. Twenty years later, the rule hasn't changed.

The crew is small by design. Three senior slate craftsmen, two copper specialists, no subcontractors on the roof, no sales department between you and the work. When you call us, the person who answers is the person who will be on your roof.

We've put slate on Beacon Hill, copper on Back Bay, and chimney rebuilds across the North Shore. We don't do shingle replacements. We don't do storm-chase. We do the work that older homes deserve.

Project Portfolio

Where the work speaks for itself.

A century-old slate roof on Marlborough Street. A copper bay in Newton. A chimney rebuild after a January ice dam. The portfolio is filterable by material, neighborhood, and year — because Boston homeowners researching slate want proof, not promises.

Drag the bar to see the transformation.

Real Boston roofs. Real Art Slate work. Drag the divider left to see what these roofs looked like before — drag right to see what restoration unlocked. Time, weather, and a century of patching on the left; new slate, new copper, and craftsmanship on the right.
